Virtual Open Mic: "Take Back the Night" Annual Event
Time & Location
About the Event
In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, NAGLY, in partnership with North Shore Rape Crisis Center of Lynn, is proud to be hosting this year's virtual "Take Back the Night" Open Mic Night. The goal is to raise awareness of sexual violence in the community and to give a voice to survivors of sexual violence. In that spirit, we invite all LGBTQ-identified youth, ages 14-23* to come and share their stories through song, poetry, or an essay. Whatever way speaks to your heart is what we'd like you to do.
Please bear in mind in preparing your piece that everyone is in different places in their healing journey. While we want everyone to feel heard and to feel that they have the freedom to express themselves, we do ask that people be mindful of the details they share so as not to trigger fellow attendees.
Keep all pieces to around five minutes.
This event is open to all genders/gender expressions, including agender/non-gendered.
*If you are a youth that has aged out in the past year, we invite you to still take part in this event.
