Educators & Parents in Communication
(E.P.I.C.)

The Educators and Parents in Communication Group's ("EPiC") mission to assist parents, educators, and caregivers in becoming the best advocates and allies for their children/young people who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community.  Meetings are focused on providing valuable information regarding risk reduction, gender identity, LGBTQIA+ culture, resources, and a host of other topics.  All meetings are facilitated by adult advisors and are a safe space for caregivers to seek resources, information, peer-to-peer support, and a better understanding of the issues that affect our LGBTQIA+ youth.  Meetings are free from judgment and respectful of attendees' input and concerns. Krava Maga & Self-Defense Classes

Krav Maga is a system of self-defense developed by the Israeli military, and first taught to the public by Mr. Imi Lichtenfeld, the system founder. Krav Maga is not a combat sport but rather a simple and effective fighting system designed for self-protection, and is intended to be practical and instinctive regardless of age, gender identity, or physical size.

The program offered at NAGLY will teach students to avoid situations with preventative and de-escalation methods, and to respond to common attack scenarios while developing their self-defense capacity.

Our instructor, Mike Leonard, began practicing Krav Maga in 1994.  Mike holds the rank of sixth degree black belt (M1) and is a second generation student to the system founder.
